Jennifer Kennedy, Craniosacral Therapy and Lactation Counseling
What is Cranial Sacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy is a light touch therapy that helps to release restrictions in the body to restore physiological alignment and function. It helps with injury, illness, compensation patterns, birth related issues for moms and babies, and emotional trauma. Emotional trauma causes physical reactions, and CST can help resolve the physical reactions so that the emotional trauma can be totally resolved as well.
How did your healing practice come about?
After the birth of my first child, I realized that quality breastfeeding support was seriously lacking. It struck me as terribly unfair that all these women who were trying to feed their babies the way our bodies are designed to were being failed. I decided that it was an area where I could really do a lot of good and help a lot of women. When I began my lactation internship, my mentor employed craniosacral therapy to help the babies work through their breastfeeding issues. It was such powerful work, and had such an impact on the mothers and babies, that I had to learn it myself.
Do you regularly receive CST or lactation support?
I don't receive either modality nearly as often as I work with other people.
How has your life been transformed from CST and lacation support?
Lactation support helped with my second baby, and it transformed our breastfeeding experience. I've received craniosacral therapy as well, and it has helped me heal injuries both new and old, as well as helped me work through some trauma from my own birth that I had been carrying around for 33 years.
What can you suggest for people looking for health and healing?
Health and healing are accessible. They are within each of us, it just sometimes takes some guidance to get there. No one has to be stuck in their trauma, pain, or lack of health.
